Twickenham Riverside Development

Twickenham Swimming Pool

The River Centre Working Party

The River Centre Working Party was set up in 1999 to look at the public amenity part of the development. This group was made up of local people, council officers, and other interested parties, and had no political affiliations. Their brief was to look into the creation of a community asset building on the pool site that would relate to the riverside location, make accessible information about Twickenham's long and colourful history as a riverside town, and to provide an enjoyable focal point for local people.

This website was set up initially as a focus for the Working Parties' results. Following the Council's decision to go ahead with a mostly commercial development, despite community opposition, it became a central point for information about the conflict.
